Sector Research and Qualification Strategy

As part of the UK Vocational Qualifications Review Programme, Sector Skills Councils and Skills and Standards Setting Bodies are required to have a Qualification Strategy for their sector and associated action plan.

The Qualifications Strategy (QS) for the Security sector is a strategic document outlining the vision for the future of qualifications and learning in the Security sector. It will drive the review and development of vocational qualifications in the sector ensuring demand-led provision of qualifications across all four UK nations.

The QS is based on research and employer consultation. The key points from this research can be viewed by clicking here.  Additionally, consultation on the QS has taken place with stakeholders including government departments, devolved administrations, industry and qualification regulatory authorities, awarding bodies, employers and representative bodies. A summary of the draft Qualifications Strategy for the Security sector can be viewed by clicking here. During 2009 further research will be carried in Scotland and Northern Ireland and an enhanced QS is anticipated to be available mid 2010.
